Heart like Jesus:
Jesus heart was pure. Our Savior had thousands of fans and followers, and yet He chose to live in simplicity. Women took care of Him (Luke 8:1-3) but He never had thoughts of sexual desires with them. He’s own creation hated Him, and yet He was prepared to forgive them before they even thought of asking for His mercy and grace. Peter who walked with Jesus for more than three years described Jesus as a lamb without any defect or blemish. Even John the Baptist declared that there is no sin in Jesus.
Jesus had a heart of peace. The disciples of Jesus were quite concerned and uncomfortable when they heard that they need to give food to hundreds of people, but not Jesus. He thanked God for the problem they had on their hands. When Jesus and the disciples were in the boat facing the heavy storm they screamed because of the fear they had. But Jesus did not. Jesus even slept half way through the storm. When Jesus were captured Peter got angry a draw a sword to fight them, but not Jesus. Jesus lifted His hands to heal. There was peace in His heart.
Was Jesus angry when He’s disciples has left Him when He was taken in as a prisoner? Did Jesus get cross when Peter denied knowing Him? Did Jesus spit fire on the soldier’s faces when they spitted on Him? No. Jesus was full of peace and He forgave everyone. Jesus refused that He’s behavior where affected by revenge.
Jesus heart was purposeful. Most people aim to nothing in life and they usually achieve it. Jesus lived with one goal: to save mankind from sin. He could describe His whole life in one sentence – Luke 19:10 – Jesus focus and determination on His task was so strong that He even could said; “My time has not come yet” (John 2:4). Jesus focus and determination was so strong that He knew when to have said; “It is finished” (John 19:30)
Jesus was so focused on His goal and it never made Him become unpleasant. In fact, just look how pleasant was His thoughts – children could not stay away from Him. He could see the beauty of the lilies flowers in the field. There where joy for Him in worshipping and every new problem he faced where a new opportunity. He spend days and days among the sick people and still felt sorry for them. For more than three decades, Jesus has walked through the litter and dirt of our sins and He could see so much beauty in us to die for us.
But the highest property that Jesus had was that He had a spiritual heart. His thoughts reflect his intimate relationship with his Father: “I am in my Father and my Father is in me” (John 14:11). His first recorded sermon begins with the following words: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me” (Luke 4:18). He was led by the Holy Spirit of God. After Jesus stayed in the dessert for 40 days and were confronted by satan every day, He was filled with all the power of the Holy Spirit (Luke 4:14). Jesus received His commands, He’s assignments from God. It was in His nature to pray and continually prayed to God hundreds of time during the day. He even memorized scripture. Luke tells us that Jesus always looked for places where He could separate Himself from everyone to pray. He’s time for prayer directed His life. He was led by the invisible hand of God. In John 5:19 Jesus says He can only do what He says the Father is doing.
What do you need to change in your life to start having a heart like Jesus had? If you know what need to change, pray to God and ask Him to help you, to teach you and to show you how to have a heart like Jesus. Matthew 11:29 – “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me [following Me as My disciple], for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest (renewal, blessed quiet) for your souls.
